Breathing and Meditation are especially helpful to senior citizens, aiding them to live calmly, peacefully, joyfully and with a wholesome life perspective. At Wellness Haven Yoga we provide a special care for senior citizens through stretching, strengthening and balancing exercises, with all of them built around yoga asanas which helps them with manage all their health related concerns. We use chairs to support their aging spine, and aging knees and ankles. We use low weight dumb-bells to build strength in their upper bodies and arms. We use straps to maximize their stretches. We use blocks, wedges, soft bolsters and cushions to support body parts that are extremely tight. The senior citizens happily surprise themselves that they can actually do what we ask them to do even though they never exercised before!
Our Breathing and Meditation Program is also very well liked by all ages and it especially helps the Seniors manage their life concerns and any depression or anxiety they face in a very joyful and peaceful manner. Yoga helps them manage their arthritis with the gentle yogic stretches, helps them with osteoporosis as they strengthen their bones through supported exercises, helps them with obesity as they start exercising their bodies in a manner suitable to their needs.
